| Susan Smith, Tech Prep Teacher of the Year 2008 - 2009 Tech Prep has selected as secondary Teacher of the Year, Susan Smith, a Media Technology Teacher from Edinburg CISD. Ms. Smith is an advocate on behalf of her students to make certain that they receive the dual enrollment credit they have earned. She is a recognized Apple Certified Trainer -the only one in the Rio Grande Valley -which has opened many doors of opportunity for her students. She is also the sponsor of a Skills USA chapter where many of her students have achieved state and national recognition. Ms. Smith was honored by a former student at the 2007-2008 Tech Prep Texas Scholars Award Ceremony for the guidance and encouragement she gave him. This student was the recipient of an Emmy Award in Film Editing for the Amazing Race.
